Dr Cephora Anglade and Dr Gianni Carlo Decastro and moderated by FAHM’s Board Vice President Thamarah Crevecouer. Last week we discussed a historical perspective on women’s rights and the feminist movement, highlighted a framework for GBV within Haitian culture  and discussed the psychosocial and psychological implications of GBV. In Part 3 we will be discussing sexual and reproductive health in the context of GBV. See you there!

Dr Cephora Anglade

Dr Cephora Anglade is an Obstetrician - Gynecologist. She is a clinical and hospital practitioner with training in Gender and Gender-Based Violence during humanitarian crises. She  provides aid for victims of sexual violence. She worked with an organization helping teenage victims of rape that resulted in pregnancy. She is involved in the care of victims of violence and  provides training on Gender-Based Violence for healthcare professionals. Dr Anglade offers her services to several organizations working to support  victims of sexual violence.

 

Dr Gianni Carlo Decastro

Dr Gianni Carlo Decastro is a Haitian medical doctor with a master’s degree in health administration with more than fifteen years of professional experience in the health sector in various types of organizations . Since 2016, Dr Decastro has been the Executive Director for PROFAMIL (Association pour la Promotion de la Famille Haïtienne), a leading Haitian organization providing key services in sexual and reproductive health. PROFAMIL believes in making family planning accessible and offering quality services at affordable prices. Dr Decastro is a fierce advocate for family planning, and has since been promoting PROFAMIL’s campaigns around reproductive health and family planning.

 

Thamarah Crevecoeur

Thamarah Crevecoeur practices  full scope midwifery at Boston Medical Center in Boston, MA. Her patients are close to her heart, as they are mostly  immigrants from Haiti and the other Carribean islands. In addition to  practicing midwifery, Ms Crevecoeur is also a part time Doctorate of  Public Health (DrPH) student at the Boston University School of Public  Health. Her doctoral research is looking at the risks, benefits and  feasibility of providing more culturally and language specific maternity  services at Boston Medical Center as a method to address the current  disparities in maternal health. She truly believes  in the concept of exceptional care without exception, for all women. She  is FAHM's Board Vice President.
